Church Benefits Board partners with Empower as the recordkeeper for our 403(b)(9) Retirement Plan. Through Empower, participants can manage their retirement accounts, access planning tools, and connect with financial professionals for guidance and support.

By partnering with world-class financial and insurance service providers, we are able to leverage economies of scale, enhance plan features, expand participant services and deliver meaningful benefits to those we serve.

Active participants of the Church Benefits Board 403(b)(9) Retirement Plan (“CBB 403(b)(9) Plan”) can meet with a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® at Empower to build a comprehensive financial plan, at no additional cost. The financial planning process gives participants a more complete view of their financial situation to make informed decisions now and develop a plan aligned with their goals for retirement and long-term financial stability.

When an active participant of the CBB 403(b)(9) Plan completes their financial plan with Empower, Church Benefits Board will add $500 to their CBB 403(b)(9) Plan account.* CBB provides this financial planning incentive thanks to generous grant support. Our goal is to encourage all of our participants to improve their financial well-being by building a financial plan.

*Please note:

  • The $500 incentive is available while funds last.
  • The $500 incentive is only available the first time an active participant completes their financial plan with Empower.
  • The $500 incentive is processed on a quarterly basis. Deposits of the $500 incentive into a participant’s Church Benefits Board 403(b)(9) retirement account can take up to 90 days.

Church Benefits Board financial planning participant testimony

“With so many important things that occupy the time and attention of people in ministry, it’s often difficult to find the energy to focus on daily financial matters… much less a plan for the future! Working with our financial planner through CBB’s faithful ministry, we can have greater peace of mind for the future, giving us more energy to focus on building God’s kingdom here and now.”

“Financial planning isn’t always a focus in seminary, leading to ministers feeling overwhelmed at the beginning of our careers. Building a financial plan through CBB has helped my husband and I become more confident in knowing what questions to ask and what steps to take now to lay the groundwork for our financial future.”

“Church Benefits Board’s financial resources have helped me build confidence in managing my finances. I feel better equipped to make wise decisions and prepare for the future while serving in ministry.”

“Using the financial planning service provided a clear path forward, making my financial goals feel both doable and achievable. The peace of mind that comes with that clarity has been incredibly helpful in both my personal life and ministry.”
