Minister of Students, Part-Time

The First Baptist Church, located in the historic district in Middletown, Kentucky, is seeking a part-time Minister of Students. The Student Ministry is for youth from sixth to twelfth grade. The new minister will have the opportunity to recreate a new student ministry after a year of Covid restrictions. Our youth are ready to be together again! PurposeThe position of Associate Pastor of Children and Youth Ministries exists to develop and oversee a comprehensive program of ministry that will model for children and youth, Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Children from birth through grade 5, and middle and high school age youth, grade 6 through 12, comprise departments for which the Associate Pastor of Children and Youth Ministries will focus their primary work, while effectively balancing time spent each day in the church office, with the need to be off campus for hospital and outreach visits, and supporting children and youth events.Responsibilities• Assist the Senior Pastor in planning and guiding weekly worship services to include, but not limited to, administering the Ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism, filling the pulpit if asked during absence of the Senior Pastor, and leading Wednesday night services during the Senior Pastor’s absence.• Work with the Senior Pastor in promoting spirituality, evangelism and church growth.• Plan, coordinate, direct, lead, and evaluate all activities of the children and youth of the church, (including all relevant paperwork), such as Bible Studies, teaching a Sunday School class and Wednesday night class, children’s sermon, lock-ins, camps, retreats, conferences, concerts, service projects, mission trips, and other activities that enhance the overall goals of the children/youth ministry.• Coordinate and oversee the annual Vacation Bible School.• Assist with specially-planned children and youth programs, such as those during the Christmas and Easter seasons.• Serve as a member of the Church Council, and Chair both the Children’s and Youth Councils.• Prepare annual budget for needs of the children’s and youth departments, and administer the approved budget.• Work with the Senior Pastor and Church Council in planning and coordinating activities for the church calendar.• Annually evaluate development of overall programs and ministry of the church.• Work cooperatively and harmoniously with church staff, deacons, trustees, committee chairs, and program leaders in a manner that will fulfill goals, purposes, and vision for ministry as determined by the church.• Develop an overall purpose statement to guide the children and youth ministry.• Lead a program of regular visitation and one-on-one contact with children and youth and their families in cooperation with the overall church program of outreach.• Evaluate program material, equipment, supplies, and physical space needs for children and youth group.• Personally participate in regular visitation to those of our church family who are ill or shut in, as well as those who are prospects for church membership.• Be available, as requested, for personal counseling with those seeking encouragement or help, and provide counseling and spiritual direction to children and youth on an individual basis.• Meet with Senior Pastor regarding any special needs or opportunities for ministry.• Responsible for communications with the children and youth group through effective media such as e-mail, texts, social media posts, phone calls, website, and other appropriate means.• Other duties as assigned.Qualifications• The Associate Pastor of Children and Youth Ministries will be a professing Christian, having already made a public commitment to the calling of full-time Christian service. Youth and Children's Minister, Part-Time

We are seeking an energetic Children’s and Youth Minister to promote a spiritual program for our families with children from birth to Seniors in High School. The responsibilities will include:

  • Provide Christian love and support to our families with children and youth.
  • Teach Sunday School for our youth students.
  • Coordinate Sunday School teachers for K- 5th students.
  • Supervise and coordinate the nursery staff.
  • Teach some and coordinate the volunteers for our Children’s Church Program.
  • Select the curriculum for the Sunday Schools, Nursery and Children’s Church Programs.
